Tattoo Removal FAQs

How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?

During your consultation, we’ll go into detail about how laser tattoo removal works. The short answer is that our laser allows the tattoo’s ink pigment to be fragmented and shed by your body’s natural skin growth and healing processes. It takes a special, high-powered tattoo removal laser to reach the ink because it’s relatively deep in your skin’s dermis. (Conventional medical lasers lack sufficient strength. And chemical tattoo removal won’t work because the droplets of pigment are too large to be broken down chemically.)

The most common high-powered tattoo laser system is the Q-switched variety, such as the PiQo4. These lasers produce pulses of laser light, rather than a continuous beam, that have a high peak power (in the gigawatt range). Flashes with a controlled strength laser pulse over a short period of time cause the ink in your skin to fragment instantly. There is minimal scarring to the skin, and any signs of laser removal are usually temporary.

How much does a session cost?

Most tattoo removals require several laser sessions. Our prices for these sessions are highly competitive relative to other laser tattoo removal providers in Tampa. Your cost is based on two things: the size of the tattoo and how many sessions are required to remove it. Our pricing chart can give you an approximate idea of your cost. Later, we’ll provide you with a more accurate price quote during your consultation.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

The sensation associated with laser tattoo removal is similar to getting a tattoo. Every patient has unique thresholds for how long they can sit for a laser session. We’ll always adjust our sessions according to your comfort. We also have a few methods of pain management if you need them.

Will I have a scar afterward?

Modern tattoo removal lasers are quite sophisticated. While there is always a chance of scarring with laser treatment, those risks are substantially lower today than in years past. We’ll explain more about the pros and cons of laser treatment at your consultation.

EradiTatt Uses the Latest PiQo4 Laser for Tattoo Removal

PiQo4 Laser tattoo removal machine with an example of one before and after treatment

Our Tampa location is outfitted with the PiQo4 laser tattoo removal machine. The powerful PiQo4 has the ability to utilize four pulse widths in Pico and Nanosecond modes and four wavelengths. In other words, this device can remove various ink colors from different skin tones. The PiQo4 also uses large spot sizes and a flat top beam to deliver energy deeper into the skin with less damage to the surface. (Put simply, a laser that produces more energy across larger spots results in greater penetration, faster treatments, and better efficacy for tattoo removals.)

Knowledgeable Staff

In addition to our advanced laser, we also employ a well-trained staff of tattoo removal specialists who are skilled at using the PiQo4 laser on all types of tattoos and have the knowledge to answer any questions you may have.

The medical director for our Tampa office is Dr. Inda Mowett, a family physician with 30 years of experience and special training in medical aesthetics and other areas of medicine.
